Okami as legendary as Zelda?

I posted a topic in the Wii forum over at NG4 about the comparisons I had read between Okami and Zelda when Okami was first released. The post was only meant to get some discussion going about some parallels between the games but the intitial response was quite heated and it rather surprised me. Because of the response it motivated me to take the discussion here as well. Okami has been wildly successful on PS2 and revered as an incredible game. Now that Okami is landing on the Wii is it fair to compare it to Zelda, if it is will it reach the legendary status of Zelda?

Okami won’t even come close to reaching the legendary status of Zelda, I am sure it is going to be a great game, but Zelda has a 20 yr legacy to compete with.

Okami was a great game but after a while I found it repetitive. The battle system is good and while I enjoy blowing up enemies with shit-bombs and urinating on them for rewards, the entertainment value can only last so long.
That said, I’ll be paying for it and playing it again when it’s released on Wii.

Personally, I go way back with Zelda; it’s been a friend throughout the years. It has a history that few games can match. That being said, I feel that Okami is one of the best designed games in years, in many ways. But to say it has, or ever will have, a legacy? I don’t think so.
They are similar in genre, and though I would say that Okami is a ‘better’ than most of the recent Zelda titles, it will never have the history that Zelda does.
