Pikmin & Olimar Added to Smash Brothers Brawl, awesome or novelty?

It has been officially announced that Pikmin & Olimar are going to be in Smash Brothers Brawl. Here is an excerpt from the site:

Without Pikmin, Olimar can’t even do a Smash Attack. And the short-lived Pikmin tend to scatter. Theirs is a fated symbiotic relationship.

Now that this is announced how does this affect our future smashing? Is Olimar going to be a forced to reckoned with or will he be a novelty like Mr. Game and Watch?

Olimar is going to be novelty. Trying to keep tabs on 6 characters (Olimar + 5 pikmin) is going to be nearly impossible with all the chaos that goes on in Smash Brothers. And from what I have read Smash Attacks are going to play a large part in the new games as well. If Olimar is dependent on the pikmin to do his Smash Attack it seems like the stars would have to align for this to happen. Now maybe Nintendo is going to work something in where you don’t need all of the pikmin, but still Olimar is at a disadvantage. Overall though, chances are going to be high the Olimar will be used as much as Mr. Game and Watch, but you never know I would have never imagined Jiggly Puff to be as strong of a character as it was, so we’ll see.
