Every one be warned now - DO NOT GET THE DREAM GEAR GAME BLASTER! It is common knowledge now that there are Nyko Perfect Shot, but it is more important to know that this horribly designed Zapper from Dream Gear called the “Game Blaster” is the worst on the market. I couldn’t find a larger picture (sorry) but this one will do well enough. If you look you can see that the trigger finger is designed to sit on the z and c buttons on the nunchuck instead of the b button on the wiimote. This is stupid for at least two reasons.

This first reason is that all the default settings for FPS games that I have played so far on the Wii have the b trigger button as the trigger for the gun in the game. I am sure there may be an option for changing the gun trigger to the z or c button but that eliminates the usefulness of either the z or c button. For example, in Red Steel it is super intuitive to have “c” be jump and “z” be duck. C is on top and z is on bottom, makes sense. Now if we were to be using the “Game Blaster” we would have to change the control to some other awkward control scheme that takes away from the intuitive design of the nunchuck-wiimote combo.

The second reason is that it puts the motion of the character in the control of the right hand. That is silly. Since the regular NES the dpad has been controlled by the left hand. It is even like that in PC FPS. Move around with “W,A,S,D” point with the mouse. This zapper puts all control into one hand. I don’t like it and I am pretty sure that there are a bunch more gamers out there that feel the same.

So stay away from this horrible zapper. Let it sit on the shelf and die.
