10 Awesome Wii Games to look for in 2008
I was finishing up some shopping yesterday at Best Buy and came across a Guitar Hero 3 for Wii and was totally pumped because they have been sold out every where for the most part. As I was looking around at some other games I thought, man, since Wii launch I have played some pretty sweet games (Excite Truck, Super Paper Mario, Mario Strikers Charged), and some awesome instant classics (Twilight Princess, Super Mario Galaxy, RE4, Guitar Hero 3). With Christmas closing in and the new year close behind I started thinking about what 2008 is going to bring all us Wiitards. After doing some research I compiled a list of 10 games that will be definitely going into my collection.
Super Smash Brother Brawl - Feb 10, 2008
There is not a single game I am looking forward to more than this game in 2008. I have been a smash addict since ‘99 and don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. The character line up looks sick (I call Snake), the map creation is a brilliant feature addition and online play is, well, going to be ridiculous. I challenge anyone, anytime. I was super disappointed when they announced that it was going to be delayed but all that means is that they are going to create and even more kick ass game.
Mario Kart Wii - Q1 2008
This comes in at a very close second to Super Smash Brothers. If Mario Kart DS is any indication of how amazing the game will be I can’t wait. I am a little nervous about the controls, but word on the street (internet) is that they are great and precise. I will probably be getting a steering wheel add on if it doesn’t come packaged with the game already.
Okami - Q2 2008
Since I got my Wii all other systems have been collecting dust so I never got around to playing Okami on PS2 though I wanted to. I am really excited that we are going to get a chance to play this on Wii and think it will be a must have for those who have not played it yet.
Wii Fit - TBA 2008
I may be weird but I am really looking forward to this game. I still love Wii Sports and Wii Play and Wii Fit looks to be in the same realm.
Rockband Wii - *Rumored* 2008
This one might be a stretch but if it is rumored then there is hope, so it makes the list. The GH series rocks (crappy pun intended) and this will rock too, just as long as they don’t screw the Wii crowd by shipping a game with only mono support.
Starwars: The Force Unleashed - Q2 2008
Ok, if you don’t think that light saber battles with the Wiimote are going to be totally awesome then you aren’t cool. This game, if done right, will totally kick ass. I heard about a rumored Starwars game even before Wii launch and got totally pumped at the possibility of wielding a light saber.
Harvest Moon Heroes - Feb 19 2008
I don’t know what it is about the Harvest Moon series but I love these games. Why is farming and trying to win over village girls soooo appealing?!
Animal Crossing - TBA 2008
See reason for Harvest Moon, practically the same thing, only Animal Crossing is a little bit cooler.
Sega Super Star Tennis - Mar 2008
This is a very interesting offering from SEGA. I don’t know what is happening over there but they can’t manage to release an exceptional game. WTF happened with NiGHTS? I wanted that game to be good so badly, but then it got torn apart by reviewers. So…this game better be good, and Nintendo better pay attention, this seems like they are getting a free test run for Mario Tennis.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles - TBA 2008
I still love Final Fantasy and I love to see Nintendo and Square collaborating. If the game selection is thin I will probably pick this up.
So this is the list so far. I am sure there will be more release announcements coming up and I can’t wait!
